The One Constant

time spent apart

is lost in life’s forgotten mist

never to be recovered

lost but not forgotten

distance ….

makes the heart grow distant

bridging the gap of miles

never comes easy

broken bridges, rebuilt over time

broken

memories need to be stronger

than any broken bridge

absence ….

makes the heart grow absent

times cloak of darkness

descends and masks

light, love and memories

build memories must be built to withstand

the storms of life

when miles come between

love

like time

is constant

Chasing the Gray

My 55th birthday poem, a present to myself …. you decide if it is inspiring or depressing ….♥

closer to the edge

day by day

I skirt the sepia

my darkness

my solitude

I’ll lock the door

block the door

maybe step outside

and change the world

welcome to my world

my inner eternal battles

where even blood is gray

when coagulated by time

hope pushes out fear

pain and despair

is it all in vain

as I chase the gray

Tears

tears from above

go whence?

after they fall

tears of love, grief, joy

cutting paths

leaving scars

at journeys end

what becomes of them

do they remain?

as vessels filled

with pain and love

to heal or to harm?

either way

they have a story to tell

which must be heard

Desire to Aspire

finish line is in sight

it’s a dead heat

we are all the same

no one is better

than the rest

is that what we believe?

all equal

or

all individuals?

what says the revolution?

nothing to win or lose

mediocrity of equality

what of dreams, aspirations

look up

not down

be desirous

aspirational

of your future

be exactly

………

like you

Second Skin

our skin

mine, yours

becomes

……

my second skin

that smell

exquisite taste

lingers on

still it surrounds me

oh to touch

my beloved

and

slip into that skin

it fits like a glove
