Mike’s Cats

Some recent photos of my kitty cats … there is an absent third one … who has moved out of his own accord … I still miss Marco … but Whiskey and the princess Coco keep me company.

I have had cats my entire life … will grow old with my cats and be known as the crazy cat man … these 2 little cute things are my current cat companions … the Rapscallion Whisk and Princess Coco 🙂 one a rescue and the other rescued from a pet shop. They have their moments of brother and sister love, and then they don’t. The Whisk puts up with a lot of the Princesses moods …until he has had enough … 🙂

My snow Wookie …always welcome at home my boy, come home anytime …

…and thanks to the hand of .. “mom” ..who looks after them while I am away 🙂

Hold On!

what is it that we value

what is the cost of that,

which we so value?

what do we owe and to whom?

to save a friendship

or one that you love

that one, who is there for you

loving unconditionally

accepting of you, regardless

of all your baggage and shit

the walls of silence

and absence

hold on to that person

don’t let go

fucking fight

because

to often, we are waiting

for what’s already there

open your eye’s

see the love

right in front of you.

#BOTL&SOTL

stoke those embers

before that cigar dies

draw deep and inhale

let the embers burn bright again

nurture the leaf

brothers and sisters

inhale, draw deep

breath and just

……..

savour life

or another cigar

The Forgotten Soldier

history written by the victorious

remembered by the soldier

forgotten by all

battered, bruised, discarded

honour cast aside

no medals for the forgotten warrior

once forgotten

memories now return

new wounds emerge

new scars

new pain and guilt

but still society forgets

wars once popular

now become an anathema

silence abounds

but the memories remain

history written in black

but remembered in blood

history written in scars

survives beyond the fading text

politicians write the history

soldiers carry the weight of that history

Shadows of My Mind

 skittish shadows, flirting

with the smoke filled

shadows of my mind

and still my mind burns

like cheap whisky

coursing down my throat

while the beckoning, cavernous

maw of blackness approaches

just another hungry mouth

that needs to feed

at the trough

of my existence

A Day (Life) of Remembrance

via A Day (Life) of Remembrance

In this month of November, with the 11th fast approaching,  when we remember the fallen, lets gave pause for thought, to the boys forced to become men before their time …. where we as a society discard our best and brightest to senseless conflicts. The hopes and disappointments of generations of young (mostly) men/boys are always dashed at the altar of political expedience and greed.

The article contains many of the poems that I have written about War …and its impact on my life, when I was forced to serve ….

Read and remember ….
