Destination Eden

the black snake stretches languidly across the land

unfurled over hills and vales

craning its head back as it beckons, sans hand

come, faster, faster you must prevail

you reach out to attack the black snake

grasping, clutching, familiar smells of the hunt return

bringing with them the pain and ache

you push, feeling the burn, avoiding deaths urn

those familiar markings on the naked skin

as you flick through the curves at high speed

the evocative colours of the original sin

all happening so fast you battle to read

always playing catch up with that snake

but it keeps unfurling further and further

hoping against hope you can still partake

before your fuel vanishes into the ether

this never ending unfolding black dream

eludes all who demand the chase

its best just to sit by the stream

and be enfolded by the soothing grace

of the snakes coup de grace

The Red Light Train

rain falling, mist rising, darkness beckons.

I clamber out of bed to join the red light train

bare feet on a cold concrete floor

soon shod feet on a metal pedal

as you push down, to join the red light train

cresting the dark hill the train stretches out before you

you latch onto the back

sometimes with care other times with annoyance

so begins your day, for most, so begins everyday

the train has life and pace of its own

each day is a new train, always dynamic, ever-changing

it moves at its own unique pace

like a slinky, up and over the rolling hills

expanding and contracting

moving at the pace of the slowest

Like life...

the train does not encourage one to look beyond the red lights

getting on and off causes frustration,

it takes time, patience and determination

once you commit, you're hooked

that's why it's refreshing

to not ride the train everyday

Like life.....

one needs change, new challenges, new trains

a chance to ride the rails alone, breaking new ground

create your own red light train

trail-blaze your own path

create new uncharted rails

be your own red light train

driving into a new sunrise

Busy, Busy…

I am going to be so busy the next few days, moving countries between now and next week; packing up a house, moving my cats and then also my wife and I are packing our suitcases and jumping on that jet plane. We will get to our destination first, cats a few days later and our container of possessions within the next 4 to 6 weeks. I am going to miss blogging regularly over the next 7 to 14 days as I was just getting into my new writing routine.

My daily routine of writing, and my creative hours meant to be logged at my desk are going to fall by the wayside, but I will be keeping my notebooks with me (reverting to pen and paper – which I still prefer) and eventually within the next week or two play catch up here on the site. The positive is that I will then be setting up my new writing studio/office, complete with white boards and black boards for all my mind maps that I create when I write, plus a new calm and serene writing area, it will be very stimulating.

I am hoping to post a few completed haiku’s plus the completed short story “A Groom’s Tale”, until then please enjoy my other posts and feel free to comment or add your own Haiku’s.

Bon Voyage to you all
